If you travel for shoots, the job is simple to describe and hard to do well: get your camera gear from home to the location safely, keep it with you on the plane, and have it ready to use the moment you arrive, whether that means a smooth airport floor, a flight of stairs, or a gravel track.
The Neewer PB027 is a 2-in-1 bag built for that whole trip. It rolls like a trolley case and carries like a backpack. South African portrait photographer Siobhan Brazier (@sbrazierphotography) took it through airports and out on location to see how it holds up.

TL;DR
The Neewer PB027 converts between a wheeled trolley and a backpack. It holds 46.4 litres, with a 26 litre main compartment, customisable foam dividers, and a padded compartment for laptops up to 16 inches. It comes with a rain cover and a detachable waistband. It measures 50 x 32 x 29cm and weighs 4.3kg empty, so check your airline's cabin rules before you fly.
One Bag From Terminal to Trail
Most camera bags make you choose: something that rolls well through an airport, or something comfortable on your back on the way to a location. Travelling photographers usually need both on the same trip, which often means carrying two bags.
The PB027 does both. Pull up the 50cm telescopic handle and wheel it through terminals and hotels. When the ground gets rough, or there are stairs, retract the handle fully and carry it on your back, with the detachable padded waistband taking some of the weight.

Checking camera gear into the hold is a worry no photographer enjoys. Bags get thrown, stacked, and occasionally lost, and a damaged lens or body can end a trip before it starts. The PB027 is designed with cabin-friendly dimensions, so in many cases your kit can stay with you on the plane.
Airline limits do vary, though. The PB027 measures 50 x 32 x 29cm and weighs 4.3kg empty, and some airlines and smaller aircraft have tighter size or weight allowances for hand luggage. Check your airline's rules before you pack, and weigh the bag once it is full.
Pack It Your Way
The main compartment uses customisable foam dividers, so you can build snug spaces around your own bodies, lenses, flashes, and accessories. Altogether the bag holds 46.4 litres, with 26 litres in the main compartment and internal dimensions of 45 x 34 x 17cm.
- Laptop: a padded compartment takes laptops up to 16 inches, for editing on the road.
- Accessories: multiple pockets keep batteries, cables, cards, and filters separate from the camera gear.
- Fit: arrange the dividers so each item sits snugly and cannot shift in transit.

Conrad's Advice: Pack your most used lens on top, not buried under everything else. When you arrive at a location and the light is doing something you did not expect, you want to be shooting in 30 seconds, not unpacking for three minutes.

Getting Through Airport Security
A little organisation saves time in the queue. Keep the items security may want to see, like batteries, in one easy-to-reach place rather than spread through the bag. Spare lithium batteries generally have to travel in your hand luggage rather than the hold, so check your airline's rules on how many you can carry.

Conrad's Advice: Keep your spare batteries and memory cards together in a small pouch in the front pocket, not mixed in with the rest of the bag. If airport security wants to check your batteries, it is a lot easier to hand over one small pouch than to dig through a full kit.
Protected in Bad Weather
Location shoots do not always come with good weather. The PB027 is made from weather-resistant polyester, and it comes with a rain cover to pull over it in rain or dust. When you are working from the bag on the ground, the cover also helps keep sand and mud off it.

Who the PB027 Suits
The PB027 makes the most sense when your trips mix smooth floors and rough ground:
- Travel and destination photographers who fly to shoots and then walk to the location.
- Wedding photographers moving between a venue, a hotel, and outdoor portrait spots on the same day.
- Documentary filmmakers and content creators who need a laptop and a full camera kit in one bag.
If you mostly walk or hike with a small mirrorless kit, a lighter backpack will be easier to live with. If you carry more gear than one bag can hold, a larger roller or a dedicated pro backpack is the better choice. The options below cover both.
Working From the Bag on Location
Once you arrive, the bag becomes your base. Set it down somewhere stable, out of the way of your shot, and keep the main compartment closed between lens changes so dust and sand stay out. With your most-used lens packed on top and your batteries and cards in one pouch, you can be shooting within moments of unzipping it, and packed up just as fast when the light changes or it starts to rain.
Looking After the Bag
- Retract the handle fully before carrying it as a backpack.
- Use the waistband on longer walks to spread the weight.
- Do not force the conversion mechanism if it feels stuck.
- Stay well within the listed load capacity, and remember your own back has a lower limit than the bag does.
