CameraStuff is a Johannesburg-based photography and video lighting specialist. For 20 years we've helped photographers, videographers, studios and content teams across South Africa light their work, with genuine gear, honest advice and support that lasts long after the sale. Twenty years of lighting, and still learning.
We've been doing this since 2006. In that time, flashes went wireless, LEDs took over video and content creation became a real career. We've kept up with all of it. What hasn't changed is how we work: honest advice, genuine gear and support that sticks around after you've paid.
Our Story
From Brett's home to a full showroom on Jan Smuts Avenue.
It starts at home
Brett starts CameraStuff from home as an online shop, stocking mostly remotes, reflectors and filters.
Our first walk-in shop
We move into the CODP College of Digital Photography premises. One room, but customers can finally walk in.
A shop of our own
We open our first dedicated walk-in shop at 373 Jan Smuts Avenue.

Nine years in, and word of mouth is doing its thing.
Up the road to our showroom
We move a little way up Jan Smuts Avenue to our current home at 473: full premises, with a proper showroom.

CameraStuff becomes an authorised Godox distributor in South Africa, backed by local warranty and support.

I started CameraStuff from home as a small online shop, selling the everyday things photographers need, like remotes and filters. From there, it grew faster than I ever expected. Today we've got a walk-in showroom, international brands on the shelves and thousands of happy clients. Thank you for being part of it.

What We Don't Do
A few things we leave out, on purpose.
We don't sell cameras or lenses.
We specialise in light and everything around it: strobes, LEDs, modifiers, stands, backdrops and power. Staying focused is how we know this stuff inside out.
We don't hard-sell.
We'd rather sell you the right light than the most expensive one. If what you already have will do the job, we'll tell you.
We don't gamble on grey imports.
Everything on our shelves is genuine stock from top brands, backed by local warranty.
We don't disappear after the sale.
Our in-house repair centre keeps you shooting, eligible models are swapped the same day, and there's always a real person to talk to in store, on chat or on WhatsApp.

When was CameraStuff founded?
CameraStuff was founded in 2006 by Brett Lewis, starting as an online shop run from his home. We opened our first walk-in shop in 2009, moved to Jan Smuts Avenue in 2011 and have been in our Blairgowrie showroom since 2017.
