Backdrops

Seamless Paper Rolls: Feature a completely smooth, non-reflective matte surface that absorbs light evenly without glare. Paper yields pure, rich background tones for high-end studio portraits, fashion, and video work. When the floor portion gets dirty from shoes, simply cut off the soiled section and roll down fresh paper.

PVC Vinyl Backdrops: Built from ultra-durable, waterproof plastic that wipes clean instantly with a damp cloth. Ideal for food photography, liquid splash shoots, product lighting, pet portraits, and dirty shoe setups. PVC is virtually indestructible, though it requires precise light placement to avoid subtle surface reflections compared to paper.

Folding pop-up backdrops feature a flexible spring-steel outer frame covered in double-sided fabric or vinyl that springs open instantly and collapses down into a compact circular carry bag:

• Instant Setup: Opens in seconds without assembling multi-piece crossbars or unrolling heavy paper.
• Reversible Designs: Most pop-up backdrops feature two distinct colours or textures (e.g., Black/White, Chromakey Green/Blue, or textured vintage studio paint), giving you two backdrop options in one light kit.
• Location Portability: Lean them against a wall or attach them to a single light stand using a simple backdrop clamp, making them the standard choice for on-location corporate headshots, mobile interviews, and tight home streaming setups.

Backdrop support systems depend on whether you shoot in a permanent studio or on location:

• Portable Crossbar Stand Kits: Consist of two air-cushioned light stands and a multi-section or telescopic crossbar. Lightweight and mobile, these kits easily support pop-up backdrops, fabric muslins, and half-width paper rolls on location.
• Heavy-Duty Support Kits: Feature thicker upright stands and reinforced crossbars designed to support full-width 2.72m paper rolls or heavy vinyl without sagging in the middle.
• Wall/Ceiling Roller Mounts: Fixed studio expansion systems that mount directly to walls or ceilings. They use chain rollers or motorized expander plugs to hold multiple paper rolls overhead simultaneously, saving floor space in permanent studio rooms.

Matching backdrop width to your subject scale prevents unwanted background edges from showing in your camera frame:

• Narrow Widths (1.35m to 1.5m): Ideal for single-person headshots, video calls, desk-mounted YouTube vlogging, and tabletop product photography in tight spaces.
• Standard Full Widths (2.72m to 3.0m): The industry standard for full-body fashion photography, multi-person group shots, commercial video setups, and wide-angle cinema framing.
• Pop-Up Sizes (1.5m x 2.0m): Sized specifically for half-body portraits, corporate headshot stations, and mobile interviews.

Proper care and storage prolong the working life of your backdrop materials:

• Seamless Paper Storage: Store paper rolls standing vertically in a dry room using wall clips or foam organizers. Leaving paper rolls resting horizontally on the floor causes the core to bend and bow over time under its own weight.
• PVC Roll Care: Always roll PVC smooth-side out around a solid cardboard tube for storage. Never fold PVC, as folding causes permanent white crease lines across the vinyl.
• Fabric & Muslin Care: Steam fabric backdrops while hung on stands to lift storage wrinkles, or fold textured canvas loosely into carry bags to preserve natural background textures.
