The Neewer DS801 is a heavy-duty aluminium tripod system built to support serious camera rigs without the bulk of a full production tripod. Three aluminium leg sections with flip locks extend the tripod from 88cm up to a full 200cm, and independent leg spread lets each leg angle on its own for uneven ground.
It's built for videographers running heavier setups: a mirrorless or DSLR body with a cage, monitor, and microphone, or a small camcorder rig. At 4.48kg it's built to hold that weight steady rather than to be the lightest tripod in the room, and it still folds down to 91cm for transport between jobs.
A tripod only helps if it can actually carry your rig without flexing or drifting out of level. The DS801's all-aluminium construction and mid-level spreader keep the legs rigid under load, supporting up to 8kg, while the independent leg spread means you're not forced onto flat ground to get a stable base.
The 70mm half ball fluid head gives smooth, damped panning and a +90° to -70° tilt range, controlled independently through separate pan and tilt locks. A built-in bubble level confirms the head is sitting level, and a detachable pan handle gives you a comfortable grip for slow, controlled moves.
The quick release plate slides to adjust the camera's balance point over the head before you lock it down, and it carries both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 screws for wide camera compatibility. A 3/8"-16 accessory thread on the head gives you a mounting point for a monitor arm or light without extra hardware.
