Why a Good Bracket Matters
For portrait, wedding, and event photographers, speedlights and compact battery flashes offer a great balance of portability and power. On their own, though, they work with small, specialised modifiers. Mount one into a full-size Bowens softbox and you get much softer light and smoother transitions from highlight to shadow.
The bracket is what makes that possible, and a poor one is a weak link. If the flash slips in the clamp, it ends up off centre in the modifier, and the hot shoe foot takes strain it was never designed for. The S3 clamps the flash by its body with a textured silicone grip, so the flash stays put while you adjust the angle.
Conrad's Advice: when you are working fast on location, the last thing you want is a flash slipping out of alignment inside a cheap bracket. The textured silicone grip on the S3 holds the flash firmly without scratching the body, which gives you peace of mind when you mount a softbox.

The S3 tilts through plus or minus 90 degrees, so you can angle your modifier down onto a subject or up for a bounce. It mounts onto a standard light stand, and an integrated umbrella mount means you can shoot through or bounce off an umbrella without a separate adapter.

It turns a speedlight into a light that accepts the same modifiers as many studio strobes and COB LEDs: softboxes and octaboxes, beauty dishes, reflectors, snoots, and barndoor kits. For location portraits, that means taking studio-quality light shaping out of the studio on a lightweight stand.
Keep your expectations realistic: a speedlight has far less output than a studio strobe, so in a large softbox it suits close-up portraits, indoor work, or dimmer conditions. For more power on location, a compact strobe like the AD200Pro II fits the S3 too.

Conrad's Advice: a solid bracket does more than hold the flash. Because the S3 clamps the body instead of hanging the weight on the hot shoe, it takes strain off the flash foot, which matters when wind catches a big softbox. Still weigh down your stand outdoors.
S3 vs S1 and S2
Godox has made several S-series brackets. According to Godox's own comparison, the S3 is the lightest of the three, at about 0.45kg, against about 0.6kg for the S1 and 0.56kg for the S2.
