The Hollyland Pyro 5 is a wireless transceiver monitor that transmits, receives, and displays video up to 400 metres away on a bright 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, switching between transmitter and receiver modes.

It takes the previous M1 transceiver and scales everything up, with a larger, brighter display, an L-series battery plate, SD card recording, HDMI and SDI input and output, RTMP streaming, and dual-band 2.4/5GHz transmission with auto frequency hopping. One Pyro 5 in transmitter mode can send to up to four receivers.

Ideal for: videographers and film crews who need reliable wireless video monitoring on set, from directors and focus pullers to clients watching a live feed.

Running cables to every monitor on set is slow and limits where people can stand. The Pyro 5 sends a stable line-of-sight feed up to 400 metres at 60ms latency with no image degradation, choosing between Smooth mode for the lowest latency over distance and HD mode for a stable bit rate up to 12Mb/s. Auto Dual-Band Hopping and Auto Frequency Hopping across the 2.4 and 5GHz bands automatically pick the clearest channel to avoid interference and congestion, with omnidirectional high-gain antennas for stable signal in all directions and Smart Channel Selection for manual scanning.

The 5.5-inch display reaches 1500 cd/m² for clear viewing in bright sunlight or dim environments, with adjustable brightness and full monitoring tools including waveform, vectorscope, focus assist, false colour, histogram, zebra, and anamorphic de-squeeze, plus LUT support. In transmitter mode it offers one HDMI input, one SDI input, and one HDMI loop output; in receiver mode, one HDMI output. Broadcast mode connects one transmitter to up to four receivers, or two receivers plus two mobile devices when deactivated. Proxy files record to an SD card or USB drive with timecode for syncing, RTMP streaming sends video to platforms like YouTube Live, Twitch, and Zoom, and the SD slot supports extended MP4 recording of up to 40 minutes per session along with custom LUT export.

Good to Know

The Pyro 5 is a single transceiver that works as either a transmitter or a receiver, so to send video wirelessly you need at least two units (one transmitting, one receiving) or a compatible Hollyland Pyro-series unit to pair with. On its own it also works as a wired HDMI/SDI monitor. To use it you will also need:

• A second Pyro-series unit for wireless transmission (one to transmit, one to receive)
• An L-series battery or DC power source (no battery is included)
• An SD card for recording and applying LUTs (not included)
