Colour accuracy note: Swatches are as close to the real product as digital screens allow, but monitor calibration, brightness, colour profiles, and ambient lighting all affect what you see on your device. The actual backdrop may appear slightly different. For colour-critical projects, we recommend viewing the physical rolls in our Randburg store before ordering.

175-185 GSM

Paper Density

Substantial weight that hangs smooth and resists light bleed-through. White rolls use 150 GSM for optimal high-key performance.

No glare, no hot spots. The matte finish eliminates reflections under strobe, LED, and natural light. Colour pigmentation is stable and resists fading over time.

Creaseless

Wrinkle-free Surface

Pre-treated paper that resists creasing during transport and storage. Hangs clean and shoots ready straight out of the box, no steaming or flattening required.

0.18-0.21mm

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between paper and PVC backdrops?

Paper backdrops are matte, which eliminates glare and produces a smooth, even tone under both continuous and strobe lighting. They are disposable. When a section gets scuffed or dirty, you pull fresh paper down and tear off the damaged piece. PVC backdrops are durable, wipeable, and reusable, but they have a slight sheen that can cause reflections depending on your lighting angle. Paper is generally the preference for portrait, fashion, and beauty work. PVC is better suited to product photography and high-traffic shoots where durability matters more than a perfectly matte finish.

Can I clean a paper backdrop?

No. Paper backdrops cannot be cleaned. Wiping or wetting the surface will damage the paper and leave permanent marks. The correct approach is to pull down a fresh section when the used portion gets dirty or scuffed, then tear off and dispose of the damaged piece. This is why the rolls are 10 metres long. If you need a backdrop you can wipe clean and reuse, a PVC or fabric option is the better choice.

What size paper backdrop should I buy?

The 1.35m wide roll works well for headshots, product photography, and half-length portraits. It fits on a single-bar stand and is easy to store and transport. The 2.70m wide roll is designed for full-body shots, fashion work, and multi-subject photography. It gives you enough width to cover your subject on both sides without the edges entering the frame. If you shoot anything below the waist, choose the 2.70m. Both sizes are 10m long.

Why do professional photographers prefer paper backdrops?

Paper absorbs light rather than reflecting it, giving photographers precise control over how the background reads without fighting unwanted bounce or sheen. The matte surface produces a clean, consistent tone across the full width, which simplifies post-processing. Paper is also fast to manage on set. A fresh section is seconds away when the current one gets marked. Most professional portrait and fashion studios stock paper rolls as their daily-use background because it behaves predictably under any light source.
